About Wee Capt Studio

What is Wee Capt Studio? At the heart of every child is a universe of potential—sometimes hidden, sometimes waiting for the right spark. Wee Capt Studio was founded with one mission: to nurture this inner world using the best of neuroscience, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), play therapy, and mindfulness. What began in 2021 as Wee Champ Studio, a small identity to promote positive psychology, soon grew into a movement. My journey as a certified Child Life Coach (Levels 1 & 2), along with advanced training in neuroplasticity, CBT for children & adolescents, play therapy, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, shaped the unique Wee Capt modules. These are not just philosophies turned into games—they are lived experiences, tried and tested in schools, families, and communities. Teachers, parents, and children began noticing the difference: • Children felt calmer, more focused, and more confident—embracing both their strengths and imperfections. • Parents saw improved emotional regulation and deeper bonding at home. • Teachers experienced fewer disruptions and more engaged classrooms. When Wee Capt expanded to the UK, the framework was welcomed as an evidence-based, structured approach to children’s well-being. Now, in the UAE, workshops in 2024 and 2025 brought the same impact—helping children thrive in an environment full of opportunities while also guiding them inward.

How we do it
At Wee Capt Studio, we believe change happens when children learn with their whole brain, body, and heart. Our sessions are designed to be fun, experiential, and evidence-based. We combine proven methods from neuroscience, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), play therapy, and mindfulness to create an approach that children love and that parents trust. ⸻ Our Approach 1. Brain – Understanding Thoughts & Emotions • We teach children how their brain works—especially how thoughts can shape feelings and behaviour. • Using simple metaphors, games, and visuals, children learn to recognise negative thought patterns and replace them with empowering ones. 2. Breath – Regulating Emotions • Mindful breathing and relaxation techniques help children calm their nervous system. • They gain practical tools to manage stress, anxiety, and big emotions—tools they can use anywhere, anytime. 3. Body – Releasing Energy, Building Focus • Movement, grounding exercises, and mindful activities reconnect children with their bodies. • This helps improve attention span, reduce restlessness, and promote healthier screen and lifestyle habits. 4. Play – Learning Through Fun • Every session includes games, storytelling, role-play, and creativity. • Through play, children explore resilience, empathy, problem-solving, and positive social skills.

About The Coach

Shamly Khalid, founder of Wee Capt Studio, is a Certified Child Life Coach with a clear vision: to support every child in understanding their unique strengths and superpowers, and to use them for growth—both within and around them. Her mission is rooted in the belief that no two minds are alike, and that true empowerment begins when children are encouraged to celebrate their individuality. With years of professional training in the UK, Shamly is certified in: • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for Children & Adolescents • Positive Neuroplasticity Training (PNT) • Mindfulness-Based Stress Relaxation Techniques (MBSR) • Play Therapy & Therapeutic Play Skills Her work is grounded in neuroscience and the understanding of how children’s brains learn, adapt, and grow. By combining the science of positive neuroplasticity with playful and mindful practices, Shamly helps children reframe unhelpful thought patterns, strengthen emotional regulation, and create new pathways for confidence and resilience. As an advocate for neurodiversity, she believes that children who think, learn, or experience the world differently bring unique perspectives and hidden strengths. Her programs are designed to honor diverse ways of learning, providing tools for children with ADHD, ASD, or other neurodivergent profiles to thrive alongside their peers. In the UK, Shamly conducted well-being workshops and one-to-one sessions within schools and communities, empowering young people to manage change, regulate emotions, and build healthy self-esteem. Now, with the launch of her Wee Capt Studio in the UAE, she brings this experience and expertise to young minds in Dubai and across the Emirates. Her focus is simple yet transformative: to use the science of the brain, breath, body, and the power of play to help children in the UAE cultivate resilience, mindfulness, and a deep sense of belonging, preparing them for academic success and personal well-being.
